Exploring Ageism in Group Psychotherapy
Ageism is one of the most pervasive yet overlooked forms of discrimination in our society. It impacts individuals across the lifespan, from “OK, Boomer” remarks to the mislabeling of all young adults as “Millennials.” As group psychotherapists, how can we recognize and address age-based biases in our work with clients and colleagues?
Join us for a two-hour in-person Diversity Dialogue that will explore the complexities of ageism, its impact on therapeutic relationships, and how generational stereotypes shape our interactions. The session will begin with a brief personal and professional reflection on generational tensions, setting the stage for a dynamic and thought-provoking conversation. Participants will engage in small group discussions prompted by carefully crafted questions to encourage honest and meaningful dialogue.
This event, which offers 2 ethics CEUs, is an opportunity to deepen your understanding of ageism, reflect on its presence in your practice, and gain insights from fellow group psychotherapists. Space is limited to 20 participants to ensure a rich and interactive experience.
